Resistance Training

As we age, resistance training becomes increasingly important to help with bone density, strength, and overall health. Resistance training is a form of exercise that improves muscular strength and endurance. During a resistance training workout, you move your limbs against resistance provided by your body weight, gravity, bands, weighted bars or dumbbells.

Strength Training

Strength training is Jess’s jam!  In particular, she likes to powerlift, which includes back squat, bench press and deadlift.  It brings her joy to lift heavy things! Power lifting, or other forms of resistance training, is not what everyone wants to do!  She gets that.  But including some form of resistance training as a part of your overall health is important for a healthy lifestyle, particularly as we age.

 Menopause

Menopause is a natural part of a woman’s life.  The changes our bodies go through during this time, and throughout our lifetime, can be a challenge.  And each woman’s experience is unique.  That said, there are many steps that you can take to move through this life changing time with more grace and care for your body.  Jess participated in a menopause seminar at the Wellspring School in Portland, Oregon.  Nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, can all support your body through this transition.
